After a strong season debut in Spain, with a moto win and first podium for Bertram Thorius, the Fantic Factory Racing EMX team confirmed its position as a key contender in the EMX125 European Championship in Switzerland. Gennaro Utech once again proved fast in timed practice, taking third place in his group, while Thorius rode a second Fantic XX 125 into the top six in qualifying.
Starting well in both motos, the 15-year-old Danish talent once again entered the podium battle. Fifth in race 1 thanks to a solid and consistent performance, he was undaunted by the decidedly challenging track conditions in race 2. In the heavy mud, he rode with determination and maturity, maintaining second place for most of the moto – a result that would have allowed him to also climb onto the podium today. However, a few laps from the checkered flag, he was stopped by a technical issue. Despite his retirement, Thorius barely cracked the top 10 of the day, finishing eleventh.
A result that feels tight for him, as does his teammate Gennaro Utech, who was unable to match his speed. In race 1, he had to settle for tenth place after an early mistake. In the second heat, however, he had already entered the fight for the top six, when a crash forced him to retire.
Now, full focus is on two important events for Fantic, with the Italian double in Sardinia (April 11-12) and Trentino (April 18-19) awaiting the world and European paddock.
Bertram Thorius:
“It’s disappointing to end the weekend like this, especially since the podium would have been within our reach. But the important thing is that we know we’re in the game. We’ve confirmed the speed we showed in Spain, and we know we can compete, even in particularly challenging conditions like the ones we encountered on Sunday morning. It’s all experience for me too; sometimes even a DNF is part of the game; that’s motocross. We’re taking all the positives and preparing for the Italian double.”
Gennaro Utech:
“We started well with a good time in qualifying, demonstrating here in Switzerland that we have excellent potential. Unfortunately, we haven’t yet managed to put everything together in the race. We’ll keep trying and, above all, working on it. I’m confident for the home races that await us because the speed and feeling are there.”

Dopo il grande esordio stagionale in Spagna, con la vittoria di manche e il primo podio di Bertram Thorius, il team Fantic Factory Racing EMX si è confermato tra i protagonisti dell’Europeo EMX125 anche in Svizzera. Gennaro Utech si è dimostrato ancora una volta veloce nelle prove cronometrate, conquistando il terzo posto nel suo gruppo, mentre Thorius ha portato una seconda Fantic XX 125 nella top 6 delle qualifiche.
Scattato bene in entrambe le manche, il 15enne talento danese si è inserito ancora una volta nella lotta per il podio. Quinto in gara 1 grazie a una prova solida e concreta, in gara 2 non si è fatto intimidire dalle condizioni del tracciato decisamente complicate. Nel fango pesante ha guidato con grinta e maturità, mantenendo la seconda piazza per gran parte della manche – un risultato che gli avrebbe permesso di salire anche sul podio di giornata. A pochi giri dalla bandiera a scacchi però, è stato fermato da un problema tecnico. Nonostante il ritiro, Thorius ha sfiorato la top 10 di giornata, piazzandosi undicesimo.
Un risultato che gli sta stretto, e lo stesso vale per il suo compagno di squadra Gennaro Utech, che non è riuscito a concretizzare la velocità mostrata. In gara 1 si è dovuto accontentare del decimo posto dopo un errore nelle prime fasi di gara. Nella seconda manche invece si era già inserito nella lotta per la top 6, quando una caduta lo ha costretto al ritiro.
Ora massima concentrazione in vista di due appuntamenti importanti per Fantic, con la doppietta italiana in Sardegna (11-12 aprile) e in Trentino (18-19 aprile) ad attendere il paddock mondiale ed europeo.
Bertram Thorius:
“Dispiace chiudere il weekend così, soprattutto perché il podio sarebbe stato alla nostra portata. Ma l’importante è che sappiamo che siamo della partita, abbiamo confermato la velocità mostrata in Spagna e sappiamo che possiamo giocarcela, anche in condizioni particolarmente impegnative come quelle che abbiamo trovato domenica mattina. È tutta esperienza anche per me, a volte anche un ritiro fa parte del gioco, il motocross è fatto così. Prendiamo tutti gli aspetti positivi e ci prepariamo per la doppietta italiana.”
Gennaro Utech:
“Siamo partiti bene con un buon tempo in qualifica, dimostrando anche qui in Svizzera che abbiamo un ottimo potenziale. Purtroppo non siamo ancora riusciti a mettere insieme il tutto in gara. Continuiamo a provarci e soprattutto a lavorarci. Sono fiducioso per le gare di casa che ci attendono perché la velocità e il feeling ci sono.”
