The Fantic Factory Racing EMX riders dominated the first round of the Rookies Cup, a trophy dedicated to the youngest riders in the 125cc class, which forms part of the Italian Motocross Prestige Championship.
Bertram Thorius, who secured pole position, won Race 1, finishing ahead of his team-mate Gennaro Utech, who had lost ground following a crash. In Race 2, the roles were reversed: the talented Sicilian got the better of the Dane at the end of a spectacular battle that set the world-class track at Arco di Trento alight.
Thanks to his success in the second race, Utech claimed the day’s victory and the red plate, level on points with Thorius, confirming the competitiveness of the Fantic XX 125 fitted with the Racing kit. The decisive round of the 2026 Rookies Cup will take place on 11 July at the Faenza Night Race, where Utech and Thorius will arrive as clear favourites.
Gennaro Utech:
“I’m really pleased with this win. The conditions were tough, especially because of the heat, but I felt great on the bike. I got off to a good start and enjoyed battling it out with my team-mate. It’s a shame about the crash in Race 1, but it was difficult to find a gap to get through. Luckily, I had a fairly big lead over the chasing pack and didn’t lose any positions. The win in Race 2 also allowed me to take the overall victory. Before thinking about that, however, the focus returns to the EMX125 European Championship: see you in Portugal in two weeks’ time.”
Bertram Thorius:
“A great day, which started very well with an excellent time in qualifying that allowed me to take pole position. In Race 1 I got off to a good start and managed to find my rhythm. In Race 2 I was battling with my team-mate when a crash caused me to lose ground and the chance to fight for the win. We’re learning from this too: the aim is to minimise mistakes and keep improving, and I’m very happy with the progress we’re making.”
Doppietta Fantic ad arco di Trento nella rookies cup
I portacolori Fantic Factory Racing EMX hanno dominato la prima prova della Rookies Cup, trofeo dedicato ai giovanissimi della 125, inserito all’interno del Campionato Italiano Motocross Prestige.
Bertram Thorius, autore della pole position, si è imposto in gara 1, precedendo il suo compagno di squadra Gennaro Utech che aveva perso terreno a causa di una scivolata. In gara 2, i ruoli si sono invertiti: il talento siciliano ha avuto la meglio sul danese al termine di una lotta spettacolare che ha infiammato la pista mondiale di Arco di Trento.
Grazie al successo nella seconda manche, Utech si è aggiudicato la vittoria di giornata e la tabella rossa, a pari punti con Thorius, a conferma della competitività della Fantic XX 125 equipaggiata con il kit Racing. L’atto decisivo della Rookies Cup 2026 andrà in scena l’11 luglioalla Night Race di Faenza, dove Utech e Thorius arriveranno da grandi favoriti.
Gennaro Utech:
“Sono molto contento di questa vittoria. Le condizioni erano impegnative, soprattutto a causa del caldo, ma il mio feeling è stato ottimo. Sono partito bene e mi sono divertito a battagliare con il mio compagno di squadra. Peccato per la caduta in gara 1, ma era difficile trovare un punto in cui passare. Per fortuna il vantaggio sugli inseguitori era piuttosto ampio e non ho perso posizioni. La vittoria in gara 2 mi ha permesso di conquistare anche la tabella rossa. Prima di pensare a quella però, il focus torna sull’Europeo EMX125: ci vediamo in Portogallo tra due settimane.”
Bertram Thorius:
“Una bella giornata, iniziata molto bene con un ottimo tempo nelle prove cronometrate che mi ha permesso di conquistare la pole. In gara 1 sono partito bene e sono riuscito a impostare il mio ritmo. In gara 2 ero in lotta con il mio compagno di squadra, quando una scivolata mi ha fatto perdere terreno e la possibilità di giocarmi la vittoria. Impariamo anche da questo: l’obiettivo è minimizzare gli errori e continuare a migliorare, e sono molto contento dei progressi che stiamo facendo.”
